What we build

Consumer apps for iPhone. Each one starts from a question people already ask, and does the tedious part of answering it. The list is deliberately short.

Find out whether what is in a US product would be allowed in Europe.

Scan the barcode on a US grocery or drugstore product — or photograph its ingredients label — and Euro reports how the European Union treats what is inside: additives banned outright, ones held under restriction, and ones that would carry a warning label on the same shelf in the EU.

Verdicts come from published European regulations on food additives and cosmetic ingredients, each entry recorded against its source. Where an ingredient list is incomplete, Euro says so rather than guessing. It is a reference tool, not health advice.

For a handful of products sold in both markets, Euro puts the two recipes side by side — same box, same flavor, different ingredient list.

Approach

How a product gets made here

01

Start from a real question

Every app begins with something a person wants to know standing in front of a shelf. If the question is not worth answering, the app does not get built.

02

Do the unglamorous work

Most of the effort goes into the data behind the answer: reading the source material, checking it, and testing against real products until the edge cases stop.

03

Ship something small

The first release does one thing properly rather than five things approximately. Features earn their place afterward.

04

Keep it running

Regulations change, and formulas change with them. Keeping an app accurate after launch is part of the product, not an afterthought.
